Award-Winning Vehicles of FENDERIST JAPAN 2026
Here is an introduction to the award-winning vehicles of FENDERIST 2026.
As mentioned in the previous article, this year’s lineup featured a wide variety of styles — ranging from traditional old-school Japanese custom techniques to simple and clean modern builds. All of the vehicles were exceptional, and we would like to introduce a few of them.

First up is this BMW E60 M5. It won an award with its aggressive widebody conversion — 30mm wider at the front and 40mm at the rear.
The owner is well-known in the Japanese street scene as “Yamaken.” He previously won an award at FENDERIST 2018 with his 17 Crown. This E60 M5 is also built as a drift car.
As a true engine enthusiast, he chose the naturally aspirated V10 after previously building a 1JZ-powered car.

Next is this convertible Celica. Convertible Celicas are rarely seen these days. This one is heavily modified with an engine swap, transmission conversion, and a period-correct interior using genuine old parts.
The concept is “retaining the essence of the classic car while incorporating modern technology for a total custom build.” It’s a dream car packed with elements that captivate any custom car enthusiast. This level of build requires real passion.

This next vehicle belongs to Nagano Koubou, a very well-known builder among regular FENDERIST and Doridore attendees. Many people — even Japanese — may not recognize this car. It is a Mitsubishi Galant Sigma, a rare model sold in the 1970s.
While the “Galant” name is famous, actual sightings of the Sigma are extremely uncommon. Most owners of such rare classics tend to keep them in original condition, but Nagano Koubou has boldly modified the body. With techniques such as raised arches and air suspension, they have created a car that blends modern custom methods with the spirit of old-school Japanese styling, drawing the attention of everyone in the gallery.
Additionally, a new award called “BEST DISPLAY STYLE” was introduced this year to recognize vehicles with outstanding display and presentation.
