Report on FENDERIST Vol.09 – Bike Area
The Bike Area was once again located in Hall 3 this year.
One of the highlights was the newly added award called “BEST MINI SCOOTER”.

This award was introduced because small-displacement scooters have been rapidly increasing in popularity in Japan over the past few years, and their custom styles are becoming increasingly unique and creative.
In addition to these scooters, the display also featured minibikes, big scooters, race replicas, and even some café racers.
After the event, the organizers announced that the Bike Area will be further expanded next year.
This is a “Miki House” scooter — a brand that was hugely popular in Japan during the 1990s. It was a favorite among the “bad boys” of the time, and it was very common to see these scooters covered in Miki House stickers. For those who know the era, this bike brings back strong nostalgic memories.
This big scooter may not look like its original form anymore, but it is based on a Yamaha Majesty 4D9. It features an aggressive custom build with 70cm long wheels and air suspension that allows the frame to slam to the ground.
Big scooters gained explosive popularity in the early 2000s, especially around Shibuya in Tokyo, and they became one of the most commonly customized vehicles at the time. However, due to regulations prohibiting parking in front of stations and shopping streets, their popularity has declined significantly in recent years.
That said, they can carry quite a lot of luggage and allow two people to ride comfortably, so I have a feeling they might make a comeback someday.
